Built at the request of a French missionary, Father Joseph Pascal in 1809 by a French architect, the Assumption Cathedral was completed in 1821 at the time of King Rama II designed. The original cathedral was built from materials imported from France and Italy. The name was given in the cathedral to celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
The church has a central role in the missionary movement of the 19th Century played. The cathedral is part of a complex with the Convent of the Assumption Catholic Mission of Bangkok’s Assumption Printing Press and the presbytery, which was inhabited by the missionaries during their stay in Bangkok.
The church underwent major renovations in 1909 and 1910 and later became a theromanesque have style during the years 1910 to 1918. During the Second World War in 1942 in nearby buildings such as the cathedral was heavily damaged, the church was repaired and renovated in the 1980s and 1990s, now adorn the windows of the church. The cathedral consists of a rectangular structure with a high red brick exterior, apart from the surrounding white buildings. The city has to share their own stories to highlight the story. It is as if the Kingdom and Kingdom of Tondo Namayan known because it is the capital of the ancient Tondo. American has been a refuge for Filipinos to be free from the Spaniards. Manila Bay is a place in Manila, Philippines, reminiscent of the war that began between these two forces.
